Another Reason to be Natural

Yesterday, I was looking through old images, and stumbled upon an image from April 2009.  I was relaxed at the time.  I was shocked when I looked at the picture because it was of my temples, and I was nearly bald.  I almost cried.  It took me back to the time when I used to make sure that I never wore my hair off my face.  I didn’t feel pretty at all.  I tried so many things to grow my edges – oils, creams, and stretching my relaxers.  The hair would grow in, but once I got a relaxer, the edges were damaged all over again.

Fast-forward to now.  It’s three years later, and I was still abusing my edges.  This time with wearing my hair in a puff all of the time.  Well, I stopped that three weeks ago, and I’ve been wearing twist outs.  I’ve also started massaging my edges every other night with oil.  I no longer wear a satin cap because it was rubbing against my edges.  I wear a satin scarf, and continue to sleep on a satin pillowcase. In addition, I’ve added protein to my regimen.  Even in this short period of time, I can see a difference.

Looking back at these images, I am even more confident that I made the best decision in going natural.
