I didn’t hop on the the gel nail bandwagon when they first arrived on the scene because I was skeptical.  I believed that they caused as much damage to the nail bed as acrylic nails.  The cost of the service also prevented me from trying it out.  Well, earlier this year, I received a $25 coupon for a $40 service at my favorite salon.  I made the appointment to have the service done, and I did fall in love with it.  It wasn’t until I had my nails redone that  I realized that a metal file was used to remove only the nail color.  Hmm, well okay.  As long as my nail bed isn’t damaged. Each time I went in to get my nails done, this metal file appeared, and I would ask about the damage each time.

Well on my most recent visit to the salon, I noticed how soft my nail felt.  My nails are breaking and they aren’t as strong as they used to be.  With that said, I don’t think that I will get this service again.  I will have them removed, get a good spa manicure, and keep  my nails polished.
