In this month’s curlBox, one of the products was a full-sized jar of Carol’s Daughter Hair Milk Pudding. This is a new product described as being able to style, define, and hold your hair. I decided to give it a try on a two strand twist. I haven’t had much success with any Carol’s Daughter product in the past. I’ve tried it when I was relaxed and since going natural. All times have been epic failures. Needless to say, I wasn’t keen on spending my money on another disaster. However, since I didn’t technically pay full price for the Milk Pudding, I was willing to give it a try. Worst case scenario, I could wash my hair again.
I pre-poo’d my hair with conditioner, and washed with Terressentials Organic Hairwash. I gave my hair a protein treatment, and deep conditioned. I used the Kimmaytube leave-in. I decided to try a two-strand twist. I put some of the Milk Pudding on each section that I twisted, and sealed my ends with shea butter. I sat under the hair dryer for about 30 minutes to remove the excess water. I allowed my hair to completely dry overnight. In the morning when I removed the twists, I couldn’t believe the amazing definition! It was amazing, and there wasn’t any frizz. My twist outs are usually frizzy. I was shocked, and very pleased with the turnout. The consistency of the Milk Pudding is a little thicker than milk, but not thick like mashed potatoes. You can use it to set, twist, or define your curls. The only downside is that the third ingredient is glycerin. As I’ve mentioned in prior posts, glycerin is a humectant, and draws moisture from the air. Living in the desert without moisture means there’s nothing for glycerin to moisture from. Given this fact, it will draw moisture from the hair, and this will cause dry hair.
I didn’t experience any issues yesterday when I took my hair down. It was soft, shiny, and very well-defined. I’m going to continue using it. This may be a definite staple in my stash. Below is a description of the products attributes.
