Going Natural – Do the Research

When I contemplated going natural, I did a great deal of research.  I stalked quite a few natural blogger sites, and spent many hours on You Tube.  I wanted to know as much as I could about this new lifestyle.  It was a big departure from what I had done for over 15 years.

When I finally went natural, I was fully prepared.  I took it upon myself to learn as much as possible about being natural.  So I don’t understand people who don’t do their own research.  Recently, I had someone contact me, and ask for a natural hair website that wasn’t too overwhelming.  Well, too overwhelming for whom?  There is a great deal of information out there on natural hair, how to care for it, and different approaches.  No one else can determine what your thought processes on what it means to be natural, or how you’re going to approach the process.  Are you going to BC, or will you transition?  How will you transition?  Will you stop using sulfates, parabens, and silicones, or will you continue to use them?  Another person cannot make those decisions for you.

In the end, I told this person that I could not determine what was or wasn’t overwhelming for her.  I gave her the url for one popular site.  She would have to filter her own information.  It’s not something that I could or would do for her.  It’s a journey that she has to take on her own.  We all do.
