My Regimen

I have been free of chemical relaxers since May 2010. I have settled upon the products in my stash, but I will try new items occasionally. I will not recommend products. The purpose of this blog is to document my natural journey. I am not compensated for any product that I may review.

Date of last relaxer:  February 22, 2010

Date of Big Chop:  May 26, 2010

My regimen as of February 10, 2013 December 23, 2012
Wash day – Friday/Saturday.  Here are my steps.

  1. I put my hair into 4 sections.
  2. I wash my hair in each section using a tablespoon of  diluted Terressentials Organic Hair .  I place it in a color applicator bottle, and apply it to my scalp.  I massage it in, and smooth it down each section of hair.  Rinse.  (Once the Terressentials is gone, bentonite clay treatments will be used ).Deep-condition my hair with  Carol’s Daughter Monoi Repairing Conditioner (I warm the conditioner before placing it on my hair)
  3. Rinse
  4. With soaking wet hair, I add Kimmaytube’s leave-in conditioner (2T aloe vera gel, 2T KCKT/Giovanni Leave-in Conditioner, 4 teaspoons of Naptural85′s Oil mixture – see below), and comb through hair.  (For the month of February, I won’t use the aloe vera gel in my leave-in)
  5. Two-strand twist my hair
  6. Let hair  air-dry

Co-wash – Once a week. Here are my steps.

  1. Co-wash, primarily with AO Honeysuckle Rose conditioner.  If I don’t have that, then I use whatever’s on hand.
  2. Allow second “wash” to remain on my hair while I complete my shower
  3. Rinse

Naptural85′s Hair and Body Oil Mixture – I also use this to seal my hair.  I place it in a color applicator bottle for easy distribution.

  • 1 ounce castor oil
  • 2.5 ounces extra virgin olive oil
  • 2.5 ounces jojoba oil
  • 1 ounce sweet almond oil
  • 1 ounce avocado oil
  • .5 ounce Vitamin E oil
  •  Emu Oil (This has been replaced with grapeseed oil. It’s lighter and more cost-effective than emu oil).

I moisturize my hair daily is primarily Karen’s Body Beautiful Sweet Ambrosia (unscented), and I seal with grapeseed oil.  Hair is now moisturized with Kinky Curly Knot today, and sealed with Hairtage’s Horsetail Butter.
